Share the Love
Help us Share the Love this holiday season
You can help us provide the nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks that enable seniors to continue living nourished lives in their own homes.
The Subaru Share the Love Event has made a huge impact in the lives of seniors. Over for the past eight years, Subaru has donated nearly $10 million to the Meals on Wheels network—that’s the equivalent of more than 1.4 million meals to seniors across the country! Here’s how it works: Through January 2, 2018, for every new Subaru vehicle leased or sold, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities. Meals on Wheels America is one of four national participating charities, and has been since the inception of the Event. And through this campaign, as a Member of Meals on Wheels America, Berks Encore will receive a share of the revenue earned in Pennsylvania. If you’re in the market for a new car, please look into the Share the Love event and choose Meals on Wheels as your charity when you purchase your new Subaru.
Beginning Friday, December 1 Berks Encore will kick off this special program as part of Subaru of America’s Share the Love event.
Coolers will be placed at all of our six centers. Here, you can drop off non-perishable items to be distributed to our Meals on Wheels clients to augment their regular food deliveries. The event concludes on December 31. Our suggested non-perishable foods for donations can be found here.
Are you a local business owner? Help us fight senior hunger and isolation by simply placing a cooler at your business and helping to raise awareness in our community. To participate, please contact Lori at (610) 374-3195, x228 or at mailto: email@example.com.
Become a Meals on Wheels Angel
Berks Encore’s Angel Tree provides our Meals on Wheels consumers with holiday gifts. The agency is asking for individuals and businesses to donate gifts for clients throughout the county. Items like gift cards, snacks and snack baskets//bags, puzzle books, warm weather items (such as blankets, scarves, gloves, hats), as well as crafts and cards. The agency also encourages school and church groups as well as Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops to create handmade cards and greetings for distribution to the county’s seniors. A Meals on Wheels route or area can be “adopted” via this program; confirm your participation with Lori by November 24. Donations will be accepted until December 18; please contact Lori Smith for more information at 610-374-3195, x220.
