Healthy living programs from Berks Encore.

Make health & wellness a priority at any age with Berks Encore. We provide a variety of programs and activities to help older adults remain engaged and active for years to come.

Resources to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

We are starting to introduce some of our classes back into our community centers. You can find those classes in each center location.  In addition, we will still offer other classes via zoom.  You must register with Kathy Roberts 484-388-3196 or email kroberts@berksencore.org and she will provide instructions for accessing the classes.

Class Schedule: 

Good Morning Stretch & Stroll – 9:00-9:30 am Monday thru Friday. Includes 10 min. body stretch. 10 minute gentle power walk and 10 minute cool down.

Power Hour- 11:00 am – 12 noon. Tuesday & Thursday. use handweights, dynabands and body weight resistance to get in shape. Work the uppper body, lower body and core.

Fit & Fun- 2:00 -3:00 pm Tuesday & Friday. All around workout! 10 min. total body stretch with balance exercises, 10 min. paper plate workout w/dynaband, chair squats, cardio boxing, power walk, yoga stretches and a final cool down.

Spring Forward Walking Program – this self-directed Walk with Ease program includes a textbook, lesson handouts, a diary planner, and 1-hour conference call. You walk on your own 3 days a week. Class will start Monday March 22 for 6 consecutive weeks thru Monday April 26. to find out about a class that may be starting near you call  484-388-3196 or kroberts@berksencore.org

Matter of Balance – this program is designed to reduce fear of falling through fall prevention education and management. Participants learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make home modifications to reduce falls and learn low impact targeted exercises to increase strength and balance.

Berks Encore Mifflin Center – Wednesday 1-3 pm – start April 14 through May 26.

Berks Encore Fleetwood Center – Monday 1-3 pm – starting April 12 through May 24.

Healthy Cooking = Healthy Eating. Join this one hour zoom program Wednesday April 28 from 10:00-11:00 am. This month’s class is Spring for Veggies & Fruits.  Most adults fall short of eating the recommendations for fruits and veggies. Add more to your diet to reduce your risk of chronic conditions.
