Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting?
The Nice Knitters have been meeting to knit and crochet items for many Berks County
Charities including Berks Encore since 2007. In that time, they have knitted and crocheted over 73,000 donated items. They are diligently working on completing a list of requested items for 2025 to increase that number to over 78,000 items. They make hats, scarves, mittens/gloves, blankets, baby sweaters, washcloths, plus many other items.
For many years The Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4201 Stoudt’s Ferry Bridge Rd, Reading PA 19605 (corners with Tuckerton Road), has graciously opened their doors to us so the group can get together to socialize while knitting or crocheting the items they donate. The Nice Knitters meet every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Currently there is a Tuesday night meeting from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Tuesday night meeting generally runs from Spring to Fall.
They are always looking for new members to join the group. Beginners to experienced fellow yarners are always welcome. If socializing is not your preference, they can supply you with a list of items, and what size the items should be, so that you can work at home.
Yarn and monetary donations are always appreciated. Any yarn donated can be new, or not so new. They use mostly acrylic, baby, and cotton yarn. Any monetary donations would be used to purchase yarn, and the tags that are attached to most items before distributing the finished projects.
