VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Helping Seniors Navigate the Complexities of Medicare
Ronald J. Keating, 74, of Wyomissing, has dedicated over 40 years to volunteering. Married to his wife, Kathleen, for 47 years, Ron is a proud father of two sons, Tom and William, and grandfather to five. Eight years ago, Ron brought his passion for helping others to Berks Encore as a Medicare counselor. With his extensive experience, Ron has guided countless seniors through complex healthcare decisions, offering personalized support and building strong connections. “Volunteering is in my blood,” Ron says. “I enjoy building rapport with my clients, and their gratitude makes it all worthwhile.”
Ron’s wealth of knowledge and his ability to share real-life examples from years of counseling help his clients feel at ease. Many have expressed how much they value his support and stories, which often provide clarity and comfort during challenging situations.
Beyond Berks Encore, Ron is an active volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and serves as a commissioner on the Spring Township Planning Board. His professional background as a structural steel engineer spans 47 years, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering from Newark College of Engineering. Originally from New Jersey, Ron’s career brought him to Pennsylvania, where he has made a lasting impact on his community.
In retirement, Ron enjoys spending time with his family, birdwatching occasionally, and staying connected with friends. His dedication to service continues to make a difference in the lives of those he helps, leaving a legacy of kindness and expertise.
Berks Encore is grateful for Ron’s contributions and proud to spotlight his commitment to our mission.
