Did you know we have volunteers who help with Meals on Wheels?
Volunteer Spotlight:
Ann Koch — Sharing Smiles and Stories
For more than 15 years, Ann Koch has been a familiar and friendly face at Berks Encore’s Fleetwood Center, delivering Meals on Wheels every Friday. A lifelong volunteer, Ann’s commitment to helping others began in her teens and continues to shine brightly today.
Ann, 64, lives in Alburtis with her husband Paul. She is the proud mother of Amanda and Michael, and grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, Reagan and Charlotte. After a 40-year career as an Administrative Assistant for a real estate attorney and developer, Ann now enjoys her well-earned retirement — though “retirement” hardly means slowing down. When she’s not volunteering with Berks Encore, she helps her daughter at her coffee shop or spending time with family.
For Ann, volunteering with Meals on Wheels is more than just delivering food — it’s about connection.
“It’s important to give back and do something for others,” she says. “One of my passions is providing food to those in need, and I love putting smiles on their faces and hearing their stories.”
Over the years, Ann has listened to countless stories from clients — tales of family, community, careers, pets, and hobbies — and treasures each one.
“Berks Encore allows me to share my passions,” she adds.
Outside of volunteering, Ann enjoys creating diamond art, reading, gardening, and doing puzzles. She considers her greatest achievements to be her 38-year marriage, her wonderful children and grandchildren, and a fulfilling career built on hard work and heart.
Thank you, Ann, for sharing your kindness, compassion, and dedication with Berks Encore and local homebound seniors!
