Do you have difficulty reading standard print materials due to a visual, physical, cognitive or reading disability?

Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians (LAMP).

LAMP offers many benefits —FREE OF CHARGE— to seniors who have difficulty reading standard print materials due to a visual, physical, cognitive, or reading disability.

LAMP’s patrons can receive audio books (and talking book players), large print books, or hard-copy braille books by postage-free mail to and from their home. Patrons can also instantly download tens of thousands of audio and electronic braille books from the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website or app. Our catalog includes over 30,000 large print books and a digital collection of over 100,000 titles, ranging from classics to new releases, as well as many popular magazines.

Prospective patrons of LAMP must have a certifying authority confirm their eligibility for LAMP’s services. Competent authorities include eye doctors, medical doctors, registered nurses, librarians, reading specialists, therapists, VA staff, and other social welfare professionals. Common qualifying diagnoses include (but are not limited to) cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, dyslexia, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, legal blindness, macular degeneration, Parkinson’s disease, sclerosis, and stroke.

LAMP is both a member of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) network and a branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Any Pennsylvania resident who qualifies may receive LAMP services for FREE. For additional information about LAMP, visit MyLAMP.org.
