VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT Berks Encore Celebrates Volunteers at Appreciation Picnic

Berks Encore hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Thursday, September 12th at Maiers
Grove Park in Blandon. The event welcomed 130 volunteers who were honored for their dedication
to helping Berks Encore serve Berks County seniors with an array of services from Meals on Wheels to Medicare counseling, office support and much more. Berks Encore staff served the volunteers a picnic lunch including half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, apple sauce, rolls, desserts and beverages. Berks Encore would like to thank the event sponsors: Bell and Evans Chicken, Redner’s Markets and Texas Roadhouse. The meal was delicious and
enjoyed by all. The volunteers were treated to wonderful entertainment by two talented Fleetwood High School music students, who delighted the audience with their singing performances, adding a special touch to the celebration. The picnic was a heartfelt “thank you” to the volunteers, whose selfless service makes a lasting impact on the community. With food, entertainment, and a beautiful day at Maiers Grove Park, it was a celebration of the spirit and generosity of the Berks Encore volunteers.
In 2023, more than 688 volunteers generously gave their time to support Berks Encore’s programs, contributing an astounding 53,000 hours of service. Their efforts play a crucial role in ensuring that essential services reach those in need. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helps make our mission possible!
